It’s really important to us that you should be able to look at the ingredient list on our products, and recognise each without having a chemistry degree. As a customer, you have the right to know exactly what you are putting on your body. We do not use synthetic chemicals, we only use completely natural ingredients which are as close to nature as they can be. We don’t need to hide behind technical names and numbers.
We make every effort to source ingredients which are produced sustainably and locally. When we use imported products, we try to source them from ethical producers to ensure our business supports thriving environments and communities. This is always a work in progress, but we really believe business can be a driving force for a fairer, healthier World.
Our shea butter is from Ghana, produced organically and fair trade from the seed of the shea tree, by Women in small communities. Shea butter is a wonderful skin tonic which moisturises skin whilst also providing skin healing nutrients like vitamin A & E. It melts on contact and glides on with a silky texture which leaves the skin soft and moisturised which is why we use it as the base in our balms.
All our olive oil is extra virgin and Australian grown. We use olive oil to make our herbal infusions by immersing the herbs in oil, and gently heating them until the herb's properties have been transferred to the oil. Olive oil is ideal as it is high in vitamin E and preserves the herbs beautifully, as well as being nourishing for the skin.
Our main dried herb supplier is Southern Light Herbs, located in Maldon, Victoria, Australia. All the herbs we use are organic or wild crafted, and Australian-grown wherever possible.
Our candelilla wax is sourced from Mexico where it grows natively on the candelilla shrub. Leaves are harvested, without destroying the plant, to extract their waxy coating which makes an ideal vegan alternative to beeswax in our balms.
Our arrowroot powder is produced organically in India. Arrowroot is a root vegetable, which is dried and ground into a powder. We use it in our natural deodorants to help absorb moisture, and thicken the texture of the paste, allowing it to adhere better to the skin. It is also healing and soothing to the skin. We use genuine arrowroot powder, which gives a yellow/brown colour to our deodorants, unlike Tapioca flour, which is a cheaper alternative.
Kakadu Plum (Gubinge)
A native Australian fruit, Kakadu plum has the highest concentration of vitamin C in the World. We use wildcrafted Kakadu plum powder in our Belly Balm for its skin toning and healing properties, and because we love to use native ingredients!
