3 Steps To Cure Your Dry Skin Naturally

We know that dealing with dry skin is frustrating and sometimes very painful. Many commercial skincare products which claim to help dry skin, contain ingredients like water and alcohol, which make skin feel better temporarily, but can actually make dry skin worse in the long run (so they can sell you more products!). So what can we do to cure dry skin once and for all?

It's time to shift our focus from using only external treatments, to nourishing our bodies from the inside too, so we can address the root cause of dry skin and achieve lasting, natural relief! Here are the 3 steps to follow to cure your dry skin.

3 Natural Solutions for Dry Skin

10 Creative Ways To Drink More Water

Hydration is Key
One of the most fundamental steps in combating dry skin is to ensure your body is adequately hydrated. Drinking plenty of water helps to maintain the skin's moisture levels from within. As a naturopath, it always amazes me how many people just aren't drinking enough water everyday.  Aim for at least 8 glasses of water a day to keep your skin well-hydrated and glowing. Avoid drinking excessive caffeine as it acts as a diuretic and will increase water loss. Have an additional glass of water for every caffeinated drink you have. If you have trouble remembering to drink enough water, get yourself a glass or stainless steel drinking bottle that has 2 litres of water in it, and challenge yourself to finish it everyday.

Which saturated fats are good for us, and which should we avoid?

Embrace Good Fats, Especially Omega-3s
Dietary fats, especially essential fatty acids - Omega-3s, play a crucial role in maintaining healthy, moisturised skin. So be sure to include foods rich in healthy fats like chia seeds, flaxseeds, walnuts, olive oil, coconut oil and avocados (to name a few!) into your diet everyday. They help to fortify the skin's natural barrier, preventing moisture loss and provide your cells with the nutrients they need to repair damaged skin.

Natural Oil-Based Barrier Creams
Ditch the water and alcohol based moisturisers! Natural oil-based skincare is where it's at (note: not mineral oil - that's a petroleum based product and clogs pores). That's because natural oils will create a barrier to prevent moisture loss, while nourishing your skin with vitamin A, E and essential fatty acids critical for healthy skin. We formulated Skin Rescue Balm, with super moisturising Shea Butter & Olive Oil, and even better, infused it with skin repairing Got kola, anti-inflammatory Calendula and the anti-itch herb, Chickweed. Applying a small scoop of Skin Rescue twice a day will have your dry skin repaired and plump again in no time!

"I have been using Skin Rescue for around 2 months. This product has worked wonders for me. I suffer Dermatitis on my hands and the results I cannot explain. I have bought many creams, a lot of money involved, and Skin Rescue has been my best friend. This cream has done wonders and certainly recommend to people who suffer skin issues." - RB

On A Side Note
If you have tried the advice above and are still experiencing dry skin, it is worth a visit to your trusted health care provider. Persistent, treatment resistant dry skin may be a sign of diabetes, low thyroid function or kidney issues, so it is definitely worth checking out if natural treatments are not helping.

Dry skin need not be a persistent battle, nor should it be exacerbated by harsh skincare products. By addressing the issue from the inside out, we can find long-lasting relief and restore our skin's natural radiance. Remember, consistency is key, so incorporate these 3 steps into your daily routine, and with time, you'll notice a significant improvement in your skin's texture and hydration levels.
