Finding It Hard To Unwind? These 4 Herbs Will Help

If relaxation is a state of mind, why is it so hard to find?

Finding moments of calm can feel like an elusive during our busy, overstimulating days, especially at this time of year. The constant hustle often leaves us feeling overwhelmed and stressed. And our nervous system are constantly in high gear, which can make it hard to unwind even when we do get time to relax. Luckily, nature has bestowed upon us an array of natural remedies to soothe our wound-up minds and bodies.

So I want to share with you my 4 favourite herbs - Lemon Balm, Passionflower, Chamomile, and Lavender — to help you deeply relax and ease your anxiety whenever you need a helping hand.

Lemon Balm

A member of the mint family, Lemon Balm has been cherished for centuries due to its calming properties. Research suggests that compounds in Lemon Balm, like rosmarinic acid and flavonoids, help reduce stress and promote relaxation. This herb is known to alleviate nervousness and aid in better sleep quality. It is one of my personal favourites, especially if I'm anxious and feeling it is upsetting my stomach, applying Lemon Balm calms it right down. You can apply it in our Sleep Balm, Calm Balm and Dream Bath Soak.

Passionflower

With its beautiful blooms, has long been utilized for its calming effects. The flavonoids and alkaloids present in Passionflower have shown promising results in reducing anxiety levels. This herb is often recommended for its ability to induce relaxation without causing drowsiness, making it suitable for daytime use. It is brilliant at calming "monkey mind", a term used when your brain is buzzing with too many thoughts and it just won't calm down! You cab apply Passionflower in Calm Balm, Relax Bath Soak and Night Jasmine Lip Balm.

Chamomile

Renowned for its gentle, apple-like aroma, is a beloved herb recognised for its calming and sleep-inducing properties. The bioactive compounds, such as apigenin, found in Chamomile, interact with receptors in the brain, promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety. Enjoy it in Sleep Balm or soak it in with a soothing evening bath with Dream Bath Soak.

Lavender

With its aromatic and soothing qualities, is a go-to herb for relaxation. Its essential oil is known to have a calming effect on the nervous system, helping to ease stress and anxiety. Whether used in aromatherapy, like in our Sleep Essential Oil, or applied topically in our Sleep Balm, Lavender serves as a gentle yet potent remedy to unwind and find tranquility.
